Owners of Sony Ericsson Xperia Android phones can now enjoy a full whopping 50 gigabytes of online storage, courtesy of Box.net. Sony Ericsson announced yesterday that all users of Sony Ericsson Xperia Android phones, wherever they are located in the world, can get the free cloud storage for life from Box.net. The promo will run until December 31, 2012.
It seems, however, that not all Xperia handsets are open to this promotion. According to Sony Ericsson’s press release, only owners of Xperia handsets starting from the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 or later can get the free online storage. These include the Sony Ericsson Xperia mini pro and the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY.
To get your free 50 GB of cloud storage from Box.net, all you need to do is to install the official Box app for Android from the Android Market to your Xperia phone and log in to Box.net through the Android app.
The free online storage can be handy for people who want to share files and data across their various devices. When you upload files to your Box.net account, those files can be accessed not just from your phone but also from other devices such as laptops and desktops. The free online storage can also be helpful to those whose phone storage is limited.
Fifty gigabytes is rather huge. By Box.net’s own estimates, such amount of storage space can accommodate about 50,000 documents, photos, and presentations.
Have you signed up for your free cloud storage today? What do you use (or plan to use) your 50 GB for?
