Sony Ericsson may have been a little behind in the dual-core Android smartphone race, but probably not for long. The company has been rumored to be preparing a dual-core Android smartphone that will certainly delight Sony Ericsson fans.
We’ve seen one such rumored device in the flesh a few weeks back: the Sony Ericsson Nozomi. And, just a few hours ago, someone on the Sony Ericsson forums on IT68 leaked out a cropped photo of what appears to be a poster for the mysterious device.
Much of the text information has been cut out from the leaked photo, but the phone’s looks basically line up with what has already been rumored as the Sony Ericsson Nozomi specs:
- 4.3-inch pixel display
- 1280×720 resolution at 320 DPI
- 1.5 GHz dual-core processor
- 1 GB of RAM
- 32 GB of internal storage
The cropped poster also bears the actual official name of the device that is currently codenamed the Sony Ericsson Nozomi. For one, it shows the Xperia brand clearly. The handset’s model name, however, is not easy to figure out. But, we’re hazarding a guess here: Sony Ericsson Xperia Cloud.
Apart from Sony Ericsson Nozomi codename, the rumored device has also been referred to in many places on the Web as the Sony Ericsson Xperia arc HD, the Sony Ericsson LT26i, and the Sony Ericsson Xperia LT26i.
The “LT” in the handset’s model number have intrigued a lot of people. Most believe that it signals an LTE-capable Android smartphone. But, with the scant info about Sony Ericsson’s latest rumored device, anyone’s guess is a good as another’s.
The leaked photo also shows that the Sony Ericsson Nozomi’s camera is capable of capturing images at 1920×1*** resolution. Presumably, the cut-out portion spells 1080, which means the Sony Ericsson Nozomi’s rumored 12-megapixel camery will be able to grab images at 1080p Full HD resolution. Word on the street says the device’s camera will be using a Sony Exmor R lens and sensor.
The poster also clearly mentions the word “dual,” which lends more credence to the possibility of a dual-core processor inside the device. Besides, the 1080p resolution is another giveaway clue, since such resolution is usually associated with multi-core Android devices.
Sony Ericsson makes awesome handsets, with great hardware and good performance. And, the company enjoys the goodwill of many fans not only because of that but also because the company is one of the smartphone manufacturers who are quick in upgrading their devices to the latest version of Android. Speaking of which, the Sony Ericsson Nozomi is rumored to come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich; if not, it will surely be the latest Android 2.3 Gingerbread, with Ice Cream Sandwich following very shortly.
With this upcoming dual-core Android smartphone, the company will be upping its ante in the smartphones market. The sooner Sony Ericsson brings the Nozomi to market, the faster I will need to save up for it. Are you considering this handset as your next Android smartphone, too?
