T-Mobile has just announced its latest Samsung-made Android smartphone for the budget-conscious–the Samsung Exhibit II 4G. The feature-filled Android smartphone will be available from October 27 onwards at Walmart stores, and at T-Mobile retail stores and online store (www.t-mobile.com), as well as from other partner retailers, from November 2 onwards.
Full retail price (i.e., no annual contract) is $200, but to get the Samsung Exhibit II 4G for a really crazy price, you can do so for only $30 with a two-year contract and after mail-in rebate.
The Samsung Exhibit II 4G can be the perfect Android smartphone for those who want a powerful Android device and fast 4G connectivity through T-Mobile’s network at a price that won’t make holes in pockets and wallets.
The device comes preloaded with quick access to TV shows and movies through T-Mobile TV and Samsung Media Hub. Google apps are also preloaded for easy access to Google mobile services such as Google Maps, Calendar, and Gmail. One can also choose to install free or paid apps straight from the Android Market, which currently has hundreds of thousands of Android apps for various purposes.
For fast and furious typing on the Android smartphone’s touchscreen, the Samsung Exhibit II 4G comes preinstalled with the Swype keyboard app.
Running the show underneath are Android 2.3 Gingerbread and a 1.0-GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Plus, with the Samsung Exhibit II 4G’s 3.7-inch TFT (WVGA) touchscreen display, using the smartphone for entertainment and for Web surfing becomes a breeze, especially with T-Mobile’s 4G connection.
The device is also capable of connecting to Wi-Fi networks. It can also share your network connection through Wi-Fi sharing or USB tethering.
For non-stop power, the Samsung Exhibit II 4G packs a Li-ion battery (1,500 mAh) to provide up to 5.5 hours of continuous talk time and up to 15 days on standby.
The device also comes with a 3-megapixel main camera (with flash) for snapping photos or recording videos. Video calls can be made using the secondary, front-facing camera of the Samsung Exhibit II 4G.
Considering its price and features, the Samsung Exhibit II 4G is a worthy investment, especially for those who don’t really need the extra (and expensive) features of high-end smartphones. If you previously owned the original Samsung Exhibit 4G, this new smartphone is a viable upgrade in terms of specs and features.
