UK-based consumer electronics retailer Expansys has revealed that it will soon be stocking up on and selling the champagne gold edition of the HTC One for £480.00 or about US$ 795.00 apiece. The handset will also be SIM-free and with no monthly contract.
The information was made available through Expansys’s product page for the HTC One (Gold Edition).
This edition, however, is not the same as the limited edition plated with 18-carat gold that was specially made for the 18th MOBO music awards in October last year. HTC, in partnership with Goldgenie, commissioned the production of only 5 real-gold edition HTC One handsets.
The edition arriving in Expansys, instead, will be the one in aluminum casing with a champagne gold hue. The golden shade is beautifully complemented by dark-gray trimming running along its sides.
Despite the golden exterior of the gold HTC One, however, it uses essentially the same hardware as the classic silver edition: quad-core 1.7-GHz Snapdragon 600 processor, 2 gigabytes of RAM, 1080p Full HD display, high-end camera sensor, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, and HTC Sense 5.5.
HTC is due to release a new flagship Android phone before the first quarter ends. The company is known for manufacturing Android phones with premium look and feel.
In the UK region, Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4u were the first to sell the HTC One Gold Edition but as on-contract items.
Amazon offers the HTC One Gold Edition at a much lower price.
The HTC One is also available in blue, red, silver, and black.
